I saw a clip on Tiktok of a part of this movie and it was that moment that pulled me into watching this movie today and I am SO GLAD I DID.

It was funny and charming and made me laugh out at certain things as well as cry at others and it ended perfectly. I went searching for the book afterwards and discovered that there were some changes between the book/graphic novel vs the movie. According to reviews they were good changes but enough to make me wonder if I should buy the graphic novel or not. I am going to put it on my list and think about it.

And by list, I mean my holds on Libby. I have learned to embrace it thanks to my friend on tumblr.

I haven't watched yet, partly because time and partly because the graphic novel was by Noelle Stevenson. I really didn't like how she and her staff were kind of holier-than-thou about She-Ra being better LGBTQ+ rep than Voltron, only for her climactic episode to be a beat-for-beat redo of "The Black Paladins". I may give it a go later.

Transition noted. Yeah, at the time I was furious because it was not the apples-to-apples comparison that Stevenson tried to make it. The Voltron brand was still partly controlled by the Trump-loving Koplars at the time, plus the show was intended for boys and nostalgia watchers to sell toys. And the fact that Dos Santos, Montgomery, and Taylor-Klaus pushed so hard to get what little rep they could in there probably made it much easier for Stevenson to stand his ground. But I'll try and let bygones be bygones if I find the time to watch.
