Fanfiction - Bookmarks on AO3

A friend asked for some long 00Q fic recs and that led me down looking at some of my other bookmarks and seeing some were hidden in a collection as a mystery work. It makes me sad sometimes. But, because I'm a fanfic hoarder, I still have those, so thank goodness. Thank you, past me.

Bookmarks on AO3 are sometimes like a time capsule of what I or anyone else has loved in the past. But of course, that's because of how I use bookmarks. Some people use it differently, but yeah, anyway. I'm tempted to read through my bookmarks and remove those that don't hit the same way anymore. But that feels like I'd be destroying the time capsule.

However, reading through my faves would be a good time. Hmm.

I so feel you on this. I go reread my favorites like daily, and when I started seeing some of them start to disappear or get deleted, I started downloading the PDFs for my own use in case they ever disappear, especially ones I've read many times.

I've turned into such a fic hoarder but yeah, I make sure to download a copy of fic I love as well as those that I may want to read. Even with a site like AO3, solid as it has been, I'm so paranoid about the loss. Especially with how many fanfic authors seem to have been able to become traditionally published and then hiding or deleting their work online.

Or maybe I'm just more paranoid overall as I get older XD
