Shiro's not feeling himself lately, and the phone he found in an abandoned corridor of the ship may or may not serve to help with that.
“Pidge, get eyes on Shiro now,” he commands, his voice hitching up an octave in his distress.
Once she does, maybe Keith should have expected that Shiro would suddenly be younger, too. On Pidge’s shaking screen is a young boy with soft, floppy black hair falling into his eyes. He’s tugging at the glove of his paladin suit, a blanket at his feet from where he’s taken a sudden tumble. He looks up when the door opens and he turns his head, blinking up at Pidge, looking dazed, confused, and a little guarded.
It's Shiro, just over a decade or so younger.

Summary:
“You’re so important to me,” Shiro says. He looks at Keith, as if waiting for the response.
“Yeah,” Keith says. “You’re important to me, too, Shiro.”
“Yeah?” Shiro whispers, and Keith can’t place the tone, or the reason why he should look so relieved following Keith’s statement.
“Of course,” Keith tells him.
It takes Shiro approximately three days, sixteen hours, and forty-five minutes (give or take) to notice him for the very first time when the year starts back up at the Garrison. He’s just sat down with his tray of genetically enhanced…green beans (maybe?) when he looks across the mess hall at the table of new recruits. His eyes land on a thin boy with a mop of black hair on top of his head, and the first thing he can remember thinking is Wow. A mullet is a definite statement.Or, that time Shiro met Keith and it destroyed him forever.
Keith realizes he’s in love with Shiro about twenty years past when he should have realistically gotten a clue.
It’s something quiet. Keith’s realization washes over him as a steadily rising, incoming tide rather than a crushing, crashing wave.
"A curse?" Yorak repeats quietly. Jiro hisses in pain, one hand tangling in Yorak's cloak, and Yorak nods to himself, as if coming to a decision.Keith's special in-game ability has some out-of-game repercussions.
"I can try to cast a-"
Block's offer trails off into silence. He and Meklavar watch on in shock as Yorak leans in, pressing his lips to Jiro's.
Keith continues to watch himself fade and flicker. He’s staring straight at Pidge’s terrified face watching her form words that he can’t hear when he blinks out of existence. There’s a long moment of darkness, endless and complete, before he fades back into physical existence. He blinks into the dim light and recognizes the dull metal walls and purple glow in an instant, stomach sinking to his feet. Just his luck that the failed wormhole transported him straight into a cell on a Galra cruiser.A quintessence experiment gone wrong sends Keith skipping backwards through time, back to a Shiro he hasn't seen in years, and one he's never seen. Keith just wants to get back to his Shiro and his time.
