2024 was an okay year for me. The term "net neutral" is what is swirling around in my brain at the moment. In the overall grand scheme of things, it's a win however minor it might be.

Even the trip to Colorado in May to see my favorite band perform at Red Rocks was a net neutral trip. It was both horrible and wonderful and I learned a lot about myself that only reinforced the changes that started when Sleep Token came into my life.

Solidified some friendships and accidentally became more important at work.

There was a period of time between the middle of August and November where I thought that I might rejoin the Japanese drum group I had led for 7 (8 if you figure in how much I led practices before for the previous director), and had many discussions about it with the current de-facto director (aka the only one who really stepped up to take charge) as well as my mentor, the director before me. Ultimately, yeah I want a community but the drama and stress of discussing going back (because for some reason people thought I might try and take over again?) just made me decide that this was something that would not be for me. My mentor, the former director, did say that for him, when he came back to play, it was all about timing. Come to find out that some of the other members of the group told him not to come back yet, to give me a chance to make the group my own and that's great and all but my term as director honestly could have gone better had I had his support but whatever. Whatever happened happened and that's it. I feel guilty though, as I have yet to message the current leader to officially let him know I'm not coming back, but I think at this point it's clear. He still deserves an email at least. (And it has been done as of this post, as well as a "do you want this website or not" email that is put more kindly than that.)

Official published books read in 2024

At the beginning of 2024, I made a goal of reading 12 books and ended up reading 17. (See below for what I checked out this year)

In fanfiction stats, I read 252 fics in 2024, for a total of 3,559,314 words read.

To wrap this up unceremoniously, life just keeps going on. I started this post sometime last week and I only now remembered it and figured that I might as well finish it up. 2025 is already beginning to be A Year (TM) and I am not excited about the prospects.

Except if I randomly, somehow, get chosen to do that one thing I've been daydreaming about but sadly, it's highly unlikely.

Also random quasi-post script, high school friend and one time crush showed up in my dreams again. I hadn't thought about him in a while but my brain went "HERE. REMEMBER THIS GUY." Yes, I wish that perhaps things might have been different between myself and this person but while he was the closest I ever got to possibly even having a significant other (he rejected my asking him out but we were school friends and hung out on rare occasions), it's very obviously not meant to be. And I am, to a degree, at peace with that.
