Social Media Hiatus Day 8
Aug. 8th, 2025 11:19 amIt is somewhat lonely here. But that's to be expected when this form of internet community is 10 to 15 years out of vogue. I keep hitting the random journal or random community option on this site to see if it's someone I might be interested in following but with the exception of one, the rest have been misses. And even the one I added is just someone blogging their days and there's no problem, it's just to see someone post regularly on my friends page. (EDIT to add: Now two.)
Thinking on it, I can't say I miss the sites I am avoiding. It's a deluge of constant information and news and people and I miss reading more about people's days as opposed to the 120-, 240-, 360- character bit of the person you see on any given post or photo or video or whatever.
Anyway, I don't blame anyone if they choose not to follow me. I post each fic I read, post random shit about my day, and don't really have a 'schtick' for this blog. It's just me and my interests. Me and my insecurities and loneliness and ridiculousness lol.
After I finish fixing the triplicate posts and finish adding the read fic from tumblr, I'll probably add my old poetry. One stop shop and all that. I was fixing a few posts from early 2006 last night and I really looked up to Resmiranda and mimicked so much of what she did. I kind of cringe at myself but a lot of my writing at that time in fanfiction spaces and even original fic was highly influenced by her.
Ha. Got distracted by reading and, you know, work. Or lack thereof.
As I was reminiscing, I copied a lot of what Res did because I thought the world of her. Not wrong or bad, just kind of cringey when looking back on it. That and my crush on a young man I worked with. Good lord. It's strange how the colors of the past color the future is all I'm saying. Not to mention the fic I discussed. None of it horrible, really, just complaints about things. And never to the author's face/blog/fanfic review or whatever.
It's funny how the colors of the past paint the future, for good or bad, or neutral.
Well, I think I'm done writing for the moment so I'll bid you 'adieu'.
