Social Media Hiatus Day Sixteen
Aug. 16th, 2025 12:58 pmBeen messing around with my blogs again lol. Decided I wanted to consolidate all the blogs on Wordpress (except the Archive) as well as back up the tumblr I'm using to mirror posts from DW. What can I say, I'm obsessed with backups and mirrors and so on. Kind of started a few years ago as a result of the migration from LJ to DW, then when I lost my one laptop, then lost another due to tech issues like the first one, and yeah. I have multiple external hard drives that I try to back up at least once a month, even though I'd prefer once a week but sometimes I can't be bothered. It's a failing of mine, I know lol
Being on my own at home on this, day two of my vacation and the parentals being away, has been so nice. I just feel so relaxed. I have stuff I want to do this coming week such as tearing apart my room, cleaning, and putting it back together, getting new wheels and tires and so on, but I wanted to take this first couple of days and just not even worry about much of anything except keeping the pets fed and safe as well as myself.
Despite it being August on the eastern side of Washington state, the temperatures this week will be so very tolerable for me and I'm so grateful. Even though I'm not on the coast with the parentals enjoying the 60-70 degree Fahrenheit temps, I'll still have mostly 80s until around next Friday, when it's in the low 90s, but I'll be okay with that too.
My mom's little chihuahua, Roxie, didn't eat much at all yesterday but finally ate today. She did that the last time the parentals went out of town. I think it's disorienting for her because Mom is usually home all day and our other dog has been gone three weeks. This morning she came out from her kennel in the parentals' room and sheepishly at first made her way to where her food dish is. I was just heading out to feed the horses this morning so I encouraged her, and left the door open, with the screen door closed. By the time I came back in, her food was gone and she had gone back to her kennel. But she did come out to get her morning chew, so I think we're all good. Made sure to text Mom and Dad that's she finally ate so they would have one less worry while out of town.
And to be honest, I'm glad they went. Dad needs the relaxation of not having to get up and deal with the animals in the morning and in the evening, as he is the primary caregiver for the dogs and the horses. This is so he can only focus on Mom, which is stressful as well.
Speaking of Mom, she has said for many years that she wants to go see UK and Scotland and I haven't been able to afford it or even think about going. I'm not a huge fan of being on a large metal tube utilizing air, jet fuel, and metal to get across the Atlantic. Much less the Pacific, as it's bigger to cross. However, she's not getting any more mobile as she gets older. She had a heart valve replaced and a pacemaker put in November of 2023 and while she is much better than she was right before her procedure, I'm not sure flying however many hours is going to work. Maybe a cruise, as she is fond of, because that means she's able to move around and sleep flat and so on, but I guess we'll see. I can't believe she's 70. She shouldn't be that old. I can't believe I'm 45.
Anyway, just random thoughts today.
Current project I'm working on is adding all my "read later" fics to my notion TBR list. When that's done (if I don't move to another project as I think of it, which I do often), I'll return to fixing the triplication issue on my DW blog, as well as continue migrating my poetry, quotes, etc from Tumblr, Wordpress, to this blog. It's a never ending task and probably explains why, years later, I have yet to finish a lot of my projects. I just keep adding to it lol.
EDIT: It's been rare to receive spam messages/comments on any of my blogs but got one today. LOL. BAN and Delete.
